After earning my first degree in Health and Exercise Science and working in the fitness industry for years, I returned to school for my nursing degree. As a new graduate, I cared for patients in the ICU at a Level I trauma center, and later, in public health coordinating Covid-19 vaccination clinics in marginalized communities. I still work in public health today, and I also teach Community Health Nursing.
I began writing in 2020, partly as a way to deal with the trauma and resulting burnout I experienced as a new ICU nurse serving on the frontlines, and partly because it has always been something I wanted to pursue. There is something about a deadly virus sweeping the globe that makes you re-evaluate your life choices.
It wasn’t until 2021 that I realized that healthcare writing was more than side project, it was my true passion. I understood that now, more than ever, the world needs evidence-based, scientifically sound writing, written so that everyone can understand.
